Foundation Pitting

Foundation Pitting is carried out to record the type of depth, and extent of existing foundations, ensuring they are suitable for new construction or extensions.

They are required ahead of any building work or extensions where a load bearing capacity will be added to the existing building.

Breaking out any hard standing surfaces, or digging in softer landscaped surfaces, our engineer will excavate down the external wall of the building until the foundation is reached, then exposing the full foundation the building is sat on, making an accurate sketch with dimensions, full photographic evidence,  and recording strata changes, the results are presented to the client.

With all pits being reinstated and all surfaces left as found.
