Window Sampling

Window Sampling is a site investigation technique where 1m steel tubes with a plastic liner inside, are driven in to the ground in meter sections, to achieve a depth of up to 6-8m bgl, then with the liner being removed and the meter long sample being logged and sampled, this is done percussively by the 80kg weight on the tracked diesel-powered rig.

The samples can be extracted for geotechnical or chemical analysis from soft soils, clays, silts & granular strata. Also to measure the depth of made ground.

Window sampling is the most cost-effective form of intrusive site investigation, allowing the client to investigate inside or around buildings, and confined spaces which are difficult to investigate with larger plant or rigs.

The tracked rig makes it easy to traverse over softer, wetter ground, with it being lighter weight, leaving minimal disruption to any surface. Various tooling can be attached to the rig such as a hydraulic driven, diamond tipped,  concrete coring barrel, and a hydraulic Jack hammer/breaker. Which makes the window sampler very versatile and able to break all surfaces before commencing drilling.
